Born in Johannesburg in 1965.
Self-employed as a weaver in Hamburg since 1992.
Ever since he has taken part in exhibitions all over the world.
He has received numerous awards for his work, such as the Justus Brinckmann Prize (2017), the Bochum Design Prize (2003 and 2006) and First Prize International, Artextil in Caracas, Venezuela (2006).
As an inventor and trainer for Flying8 loom construction and the associated weaving technology, he has been working for companies and organizations such as the UN and GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation) in Africa, South America, Europe and India since 2007.
Flying8 courses in Germany and Switzerland are just as much part of his program as various trade fair appearances, private training courses, lectures in universities, museums and at congresses.
Entitled Flying8 Weaving Academy there are a number of books and videos on the subject of Flying8 loom construction, weaving method and design.
